To open eyes, ears, hearts and hands
Reggae Music is a musical art movement, which is alive on all continents, in virtually all languages, and is making people feel the positive vibes in almost every country of the world. In 30 years since its humble beginnings in the ghettos of Jamaica, it has become the fastest growing global musical trend. Time Magazine named Reggae's most popular artist, Bob Marley, the most important artist of the 20th century. Few art movements can make such a claim. Reggae4Africa is aiming to focus the unique potential for massive attention created by Reggae music, back to its original birthing space: the African Continent. The uniqueness of Reggae music resides in the fact that it has quickly become the common musical language of all African countries, and communities. Besides each African nation's own styles of music, every country in Africa also has its own Reggae artists, who keep a direct and live connection with the progression of Reggae in Jamaica and elsewhere. And everywhere, the message of Reggae is one of respect for cultural roots - together with global unity, a crucial combination for living in harmony. Reggae is also the only musical genre concerned with Africa, and whose entire message revolves around Africa. To bring this concern to the surface, Reggae4Africa brings the Reggae Dream Team to Africa to help and promote the work of humanitarian organizations and associations, which have existing programs to help the African people in need, especially the children, within every country in Africa, and in the Diaspora. These organisations will be our co-stars, and share the public's attention with their favourite artists. This is how Reggae and Africa are both equally part of this world celebration. The first international Reggae4Africa show will manifest in October 2007 in Essaouira, Morocco, featuring the hottest names of Reggae, who will join in this great endeavour to celebrate and support Africa, the Motherland of Humanity and Music.
